Summary

General life update for the past three months, and some short-term plans.

Content

Wah.

The RSS reader that I was using showed errors whenever it tried reading this website’s feed, so I figured I should post after a long while to test things out.

How has it already been three months since I updated this website…? I’ve been busy with working on Himig that I didn’t get to write anything in here.

To be fair, I’ve been doing other things as well. As long as I write about them, it should be fine. It’s my website, after all!

(A few days before I wrote this, the errors went away. I guess the world really just wanted me to make a general update, haha.)

Himig

Progress in the game has been going steadily. Recently, I’ve mostly been working on more 3D models, implementing and finalizing features and accessibility settings, and organizing and writing the game’s story.

I think I’ll stop on experimenting with certain systems soon, so I can focus on making more of the content. It might be time to put a lock on things and leave other ideas for the next game.

The weekly early preview posts that I’ve been doing over on Ko-fi is still going, so I won’t post too much about the game in here.

If you’d like to read about them (and a few random jokes) every week, I hope that you would consider becoming a member on the Ko-fi page.

Writing Practice

To practice making audio descriptions and writing stories in general, I started to do some casual writing during my free time a few months ago.

I’m trying to write a short fantasy story, since that’s what I enjoy reading recently… even though it’s probably very generic, haha.

I don’t really read that much… which is another problem I should fix sometime.

My current goal is to reach 10 chapters, with each one having at least a thousand words.

It’s been a great learning experience so far. If it’s still enjoyable enough for me by the time I finish it, I’ll try doing more.

I’ll pretend that I’m doing a casual NaNoWriMo on my own and just have a fun time!

Goodbye to the past me who struggled with 200-word essays…!

I’m not sure if it’ll be good, but comparing it to an assignment that I did way back in college… I honestly can only go up.

It had a lot of “he said” and “she said” at every other sentence. It still pains me that I had to submit a story in that state because of deadlines…

… In any case, if I ended up putting the current story that I’m working on to this website, I should probably add a credits page for Ko-fi members, too.

I suppose I could also upload it on Ko-fi a week earlier for members…?

I’ll think about it again once I get to 10 chapters.

Virtual Journal

One of the main reasons for making this blog was to motivate me to play and write more about video games.

The Virtual Journal category that I made ended up being full of me going into VRChat worlds first, since my interest in virtual game events grew due to COVID.

It should be fine to have general video game impressions in the same category, right…?

I made the category, so it should be fine!

I managed to play and finish a few games, so hopefully I’ll have the time to organize my thoughts about them and finally be able to recommend games to other people.

Maybe I should start with the recent Steam Next Fest, since I did try a few games in there…

Thinking of games to play made me want to revisit a few MMOs that I played before too, but… some of them are already gone.

I tried looking for old MMO installers that came from magazines for fun while I was looking for other things. I managed to find some for games like Cabal and MU Online, but I didn’t see the main thing that I was looking for at all, haha.

For VR worlds, I’m planning to make a post for one before July approaches. It was a world for an event last year, which I didn’t get to go to for work reasons.

I’d also like to go to non-event worlds and write about them sometime.

Halving my free time between games and writing means that my progress is quite slow on both, but I’m trying not to think about that too much.

Free time should be a relaxing time, and doing either of them should be making me happy, after all!

Sports

… I’m sorry, I’m not doing anything sports-related at all. I just wanted to write this category and pretend I’m in a podcast with generic corners like this.

Speaking of sports though, I’m glad that I’m seeing volleyball more on the television now. Rather than basketball which is more prominent here, I like it more… probably due to watching Haikyuu.

Being able to watch the matches of Alas Pilipinas with the family was fun.

Weather

It’s hot.

Every day feels like being on or above 40℃. I wonder if this would be considered as a never-ending heat wave…

We’re past the months where no rain happens at least, but then the rainy months also introduced the problem of roof leaks…

… and even when it rains, it’s still hot…

The pain of both worlds.

It’s not quite weather-related, but a few water shortages and rotational brownouts have been happening recently, too… which, in turn, would eventually cause bills to rise…

Fun.

Health

I’m still adapting to the effects of Long COVID. It’s easy to be physically and mentally tired, so I’m taking frequent short breaks now.

More recent problems that popped up were the loss of focus and mental state management. Switching tasks or writing about the things that I need to do in a bite-sized way can solve the former, but I’m still struggling with the latter, especially once the day turns into the night.

Playing video games or writing can help with it, but the problem is having enough will and energy to even start on either. I’ll try to do them in a different schedule and see how that goes, maybe.

Possibly relating to Long COVID (or not), my sleep schedule is all over the place once again, haha. This is probably affecting the latter, too.

I might have to stay in a weird schedule for a bit more, but I’ll fix it next week.

I guess the short version of all this would be that I’m still surviving, and I’ll keep doing precautions for COVID as much as I can, even if almost no one that I know does.

Stay safe, everyone.

Etc.

There’s still a lot of other things that I’d like to try doing, but I’m happy with the things that I can do for now.

If only I could split myself and do everything, haha.

I’ll just randomly leave the Seiza ni Naretara cover song by Itsuki Natsume in here and continue on with my game-making days. I should watch Bocchi the Rock sometime…

There’s also the 2nd VTuber Singing King that I finally caught up on. Everyone sang well!

In any case, I’ll free some time so that I can write a bit more in here.

Let’s keep making things!
