Hello! I’ve been doing audio stuff for other projects these past few days, so I wasn’t able to do much. Should be done this week though!
Work from the previous week has mostly just been clean-ups: Separating the character and location to their own scenes for proper spawning later on. I also made better camera angles for testing.
This week, I started adding interaction with the environment and basic functions of the dialogue system. For this game, I wanted to try doing manga-style dialogue bubbles instead of dialogue boxes. It might be fun to play around with their sizes and shapes to convey character and emotion more.
A thing that I didn’t think of is how the UI will also resize since I had the whole game zoomed in, causing text to either be blurry or unreadable… I’ll try tinkering with filter options or pixel fonts for that next time.
I added a rail-like system on certain cameras where it follows where you are in a line. (I also made prototype afternoon and evening skyboxes for testing. Pretty!)
For the next devlog, the aim is to add more features to the dialogue system, and implement location-changing for June’s rough build.
That’s all for now. Thank you for reading! See you next time.
